SMB _is_ CIFS.  microsoft, knowing the power of words, did a "marketing"
exercise back in july / august 1996 when Sun announced "WebNFS", and
created SMB, which stands for "common internet file system".

i love these "must-justify-to-the-boss" questions :-)
