benny holmgren wrote some code, patches against 1.9.18p2.  he modified
smbpasswd.c and smbpass.c, from which i could create getnisppwdnam(),
getnisppwuid(), mod_nisppwd_entry() etc. 

ace and bril, make my day.  he's even written some installation
instructions.

benny, can i work your code into something suitable, acknowledging
copyright and putting it into the main samba distribution?  i may need
help writing a mod_nisppwd_entry() function...
