My only-marginally-informed answer for you is that this probably
has to do with the fact that Samba doesn't support the NT-specific SMB
calls yet.

I'm not sure that even the people who know what they are talking
about could tell you what kinds of problems that will give you :)
It's just another way for Micro$oft to oppress Samba's interoperability.
