Thanks, but the problem isn't the file idling API (we already have
some code I can re-use from the directory idling) it's changing all
the places that currently depend on the Files[] array and the 1-1
mapping of fnum to Files[] indexes. Some fairly hairy code depends on
that stuff.

The first thing will be to abstract out Files[] and fnum. After that
adding file idling is a cinch :-)
