Here's what I'm thinking would be nice for a news announcement. Basically,
we want to list the names of those accepted, a brief description of their
project, and who will be mentoring them. I don't think we want to (or
could) get into details about timelines, etc., at this point. Other basic
info ideas?

I could do a brief Q&A like we do with new team members, but this takes
time, and we probably couldn't make an announcement tomorrow. Maybe we
could do something like that at the end of the project -- a
"here's-all-the-great-things-I-learned-while-at-samba-summer-camp" kind of
thing. :-) But if we want intro interviews, we'll have to set up a
schedule/timeline for those.

Also, jerry, you mentioned blogs<deryck ducks jra's rant & points at jerry>
as a way to track updates. Do we want this in place first? So that we
could say, "follow the progress of <someproject> at
http://projects.samba.org/<someproject>/"? If we used blosxom this would
be a quick setup and could probably be done by tomorrow.

If we take the simplest path to get us started -- list of names, project
descriptions, and mentors -- then all I need is a nicer description of the
projects. The 1-2 line descriptions we have at
http://samba.org/samba/projects/summercode05.html might not be crystal
clear to everyone reading news.samba.org :-).

Let me know what you all think... Cheers,

deryck
