Hello,
 I try to setup Samba 2.2.1a on Suse 7.3 Kernel 2.4.10-4GB.

Here is my smb.conf:

[global]
        workgroup = WHG1
        netbios name = gateway
        interfaces = 192.168.100.99/24
        password level = 4
        logon script = logon.bat
        domain logons = Yes
        os level = 100
        preferred master = yes
        domain master = yes
        local master = yes
        encrypt passwords = yes
        security = user
        status = yes
        read only = No
# short preserve case = No
        share modes = no
        locking = No
        logon drive = Z:

[netlogon]
        comment = NETLOGON service
        path = /etc/samba/scripts/login
        read only = Yes

[homes]
        comment = Home directories for CHIPSNDIPS domain users
        path = %H
        valid users = %S
        create mask = 0600
        directory mask = 0700
        browseable = No

If I try to logon form a Win98 client I got an error message
"Ungueltiger Parameter" (sorry for the German expression (not allowed
parameter)

If I use nmblookup:

linux:/etc/samba # nmblookup gateway#1b
querying gateway on 192.168.100.255
name_query failed to find name gateway#1b

linux:/etc/samba # nmblookup gateway#00
querying gateway on 192.168.100.255
192.168.100.99 gateway<00>

I got these results, but why?

My network has only a Linux(Samba)Server and Win98 and Win2000Pro
client.

Thanks a lot

Hans-Juergen
