Samba_2.2 + --with-ldapsam

Hmm... something funny happening here!

[root at godzilla] /usr/local/samba-ldap/bin# ./smbpasswd -w secret
INFO: Debug class all level = 3   (pid 9791 from pid 9791)
-w not available unless configured --with-ldap

But i have compiled it with --with-ldapsam!

[root at godzilla] /usr/local/samba-ldap/bin# ./smbpasswd

New SMB password:
Retype new SMB password:
ldap_open_connection: connection opened
fetch_ldap_pw: no ldap secret retrieved!
ldap_connect_system: Failed to retrieve password for
cn=Manager,dc=mydomain,dc=com from secrets.tdb
Failed to find entry for user root.
Failed to modify password entry for user root

So what did i screw up?
