Another upgrade problem 2.2.19 --> 2.4.9

Thank you for your prompt response Jeremy.
If I install back older quota package will it work with 2.4.9 kernel and
2.2.1a samba (this seems to me faster than downloading and installing
the CVS samba and recompiling old 2.4.2 kernel)?
