Only root can log on to domain?

Hi,

I'm trying to get Samba 2.2.2 working as a domain controller with Windows XP
Pro.

I seem to have it working, but it will only let root log on to the domain. I
have created some users with;

smbpasswd -a <user>

Yet it will not authenticate them. But if I use root with the root password,
it logs on.

Any ideas?
