Samba v. Solaris PC NetLink

I have an interface engine running on a Solaris 8 box running Samba
2.0.7.  The interface needs to copy app. 10k files of 500 bytes to
different NT fileservers each day.

Is smbclient sufficient for this purpose or would installing PC NetLink
be a better sol'n?  NFS is always a possibility, but I would prefer not
running that if at all possible.
