%U and %u functionality change in 2.2??

I just tested this with the latest CVS (with my patch).

I added a share in the smb.conf,

[user-%U]
        comment = user %U
        path = /tmp 

And I see the share name and comment name with my current
logged in user name substituted.

So I can't reproduce your problem here.
