MS' Kerberos Implementation

I read that the MIT guys were revising the spec, in effect
tightening up just what can be done with the vendor-specific
field.  Someone remarked that this would then either:
1) break MS Kerberos, or 
2) prevent a similar "subset" of MIT Kerberos from being
spawned.

Is this urban legend, or what can we expect on the Kerberos front?
