Changing passwords from NT workstation

   passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
   passwd chat = *password* %n\n *password* %n\n *successfull*

This certainly worked on one of my systems some time ago. I think I was
running RedHat5.2 then. As I said, I don't use that system anymore so I
cannot be sure it works with current versions of 'passwd'.
