Long names with Samba

Questions regarding long names 
If i am using a W2K machine to connect to NFS ressources through samba, no
problem to access long names ressources.
If i am using Windows NT4 SP6 to connect to NFS ressources through samba, i
do not see the long names resources nor map them.
It is probably an SMB issue but ?

Why and is there a fix ?
