which version of samba should I use?

Hello.
 
I've been working on a problem here and have been trying to figure it out using this mailing list and also documentation,  I am confused.  I am still learning about samba,  and hope I am not asking a stupid question!!!  Okay...I have samba running on a UNIX server and need to be able to connect to more than one domain.  Do I need to get the TNG code?
