WINS on SAMBA

At least somewhat related:
What is the simplest / best solution to make all the clients switch
WINS to the Samba server (which they now log into - but samba isn't
configured to be WINS - so they use one on another subnet)
The clients is a mixture of W95, W98, NT WS.

I guess the problem lies in that you can't switch the Samba server
to be WINS server before every client has switched to use it.
Or am I wrong?
