In /etc/smb.conf, edit / add the following lines to be:

domain master = no
local master = no
domain logons = no
os level = 20

to be a member of an NT controlled domain, edit / add:

security = server
password server = <NT_PDC>
workgroup = <NT_DOMAIN_NAME>
win server = <WINS_SERVER>

HTH Microsoft - it would be nice if instructions were added to the article
