authentication failures

I am using an OS/2 Warp Server -- which is completely compatible with Lan
Manager -- as my password server. It's worked well for a while. Now, I'm
getting the following errors in my logs: (see below)

What does it mean when the account is disabled? Is that something samba
is doing? Furthermore, my server PPSRV1 allows users access to it, ie
after they logon, they have no problem using shares on it. So, if they
are PPSRV1 is properly authenticating them directly, why is samba not able
to authenticate them through it? Moreover, why is it only 'sometimes' and
not always??
