semaphore errors

I'm running 2.0.6 on sol2.6.  Users are getting semaphore timeout
errors.  What is the best way to tune samba for semaphores?

I've been thinking about turning keepalive to 15 mins or a few hours. 
Does anyone use the keepalive directive?  How much does it help?
