Samba has it's own log files by default. If you are using the RPM, I think they
are in /var/log/samba. The defaults for the source is /usr/local/samba/var or
/var. There is one for nmbd (log.nmb) and one for smbd (log.smb). you can
always do a 'find -name log.nmb' if they aren't in those places. The info in
these logs is usually enough to work out what the problem is.
