Inaccessable folders and desktop.ini issues

I have some shares that point to automount points. When NT boxes pull
up these automount points, there are some directories that the
sambaserver does not have access to or that are down at the time.

In this scenario when the NT client opens the share on the sambe server
with these automount folders, it tries to go into EACH AND EVERY folder
and look for a desktop.ini file. If a folder is not accessable it tries
to get the file 3 or 4 times before giving up and moving onto the next
folder. It takes like 5 minutes to pull up these folders because of
this. Is there a fix for this??? Or is this something I'm just going
to have to deal with ??
