errormessage - failed session setup

Hello,

i got the latest code for samba with cvs and installed it with ./configure; 
make; make install. Then i started the services from inet.d.

The Problem is, when i want to login with an existing user account 
(smbclient -L myserver -U root) the server says after getting the password 
- "failed session setup". If i type in a wrong password, the error message 
is the same.

But : "smbclient -L myserver -U ftp" works fine without a password ( -U% 
also).

What is the reason for this?
