hey,
i've compiled and installed samba on FreeBSD 3.3. however i get this
message in smb.log the moment a client tries to "Find computer":

bash-2.03# tail -1 /usr/local/samba/var/smb.log
open_oplock_ipc: Failed to get local UDP socket for address 100007f.
Error was Can't assign requested address

for doing a netstat i get:

Active Internet connections (including servers)
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address (state)
tcp 0 0 *.netbios-ssn *.* LISTEN

so that part seems to be running fine. the loopback interface is up and
working and nothing else is listening on any UDP port, except syslog.

any ideas? (i'm fresh out).

thanks,
jan van rensburg
