NT Workstation 4.0

I have a smb server installed in a RedHat Linux, my problem is:

i have many clients (win98, win95, and NT workstations)

all of them use plain text passwords to login on a NT domain 
(at samba server)

is possible nt workstations to login using plain text passwords?
i have tried but ... i dont have obtained sucess ... the problem
is the machine account (ex. ws_1$)
