joining NT Domain

Is there a how-to which shows me to do the following?

Join a NT Domain
Get following error

[root at barasnt3 charlie]# smbpasswd -j xxx -r netbiosname-PDC
WARNING: The "alternate permissions"option is deprecated
cli_net_auth2: Error NT_STATUS_NO_TRUST_SAM_ACCOUNT
cli_nt_setup_creds: auth2 challenge failed
modify_trust_password: unable to setup the PDC credentials to machine PDC.
Error was : NT_STATUS_NO_TRUST_SAM_ACCOUNT.
1999/11/10 14:36:20 : change_trust_account_password: Failed to change
password for domain xxx.
Unable to join domain xxx.
