Hmmm.

 Same problem as yesterday but more symptoms now. The smbd dies with a SIGSEV,
I managed to catch it once in dbx and it looked like someone was trouncing the
stack in the group database stuff (doncha love pointers!). Here's the stupid
part. Now I cannot reproduce it so it's not always happening. 

Maybe I'll run it through purify and see what happens....
