smbpasswd crashes

I reported this about two weeks ago and attempted to debug it with help 
from Luke but I don't know the code base and the effort ran out of steam.

The work around I've been using is to use smbpasswd from 2.0.0.  I 
haven't tried 2.0.2 yet.
