Better to follow the stpes in the NT Domain FAQ online at
http://samba.org.  Choose a mirror site and look under 
documentation.

smbpasswd -a -m <machinename>

/etc/passwd in thr standard format.  The NTDOM FAQ has some more
information in Section 2.
