I have exactly the same problem on the same configuration (described message
with subject: No locking available - Compiling problem in the
samba at samba.org mailing list). If you start smbd with log level 10 you can
see that in the log files the password check/ authentication passes but then
samba cant change uid to a current user uid. I'm very interested in the
solution/advice for this problem. I also tried to compile the source but the
./configure script crushes at the end with the message:
No locking available...
I'll also appreciate if you can tell me if the compiling (./configure
script) passes on your system.

Thanks

Branko
