Problem with NT4 WS SP3

Hi All
	I have an NT 4 WS with SP3 but when I try to change in control
panel / net , from member of workgroup to domain, the error message is
that can´t connect to the domain controler, check the machine account..
I created an account for the NT box with :

smbpasswd -a -m MACHINE ( MACHINE$ int /etc/passwd )


can anybody help me
