domain not available

after joining domain.. get the welcome to domain msg as NTDOMAIN.txt states
however after the obligatory reboot NT states that the Domain is 
unavailable and goes back to login prompt..

unfortunately there is 'NO' core dumped as it states.. and i tried
the 'gdb' suggestion provided by Luke however, it happens too quickly 
to attach to anything
