Samba PDC as a password server

Yes, this should definately work. The other benefit is that
if that Samba PDC is also the NIS master and the other Samba
servers are NIS clients then you have one machine that is the
single account master for all users (look, look, the Holy
Grail, in Camelot ! Shhh. it's only a model :-).
