[Samba-it] smbtar error: ERRDOS...

Buon giorno a tutti.
Ho erroneamente inviato questa mail ad un utente del dominio xsec.it. Ripeto
l'invio alla mailing list.

Io utilizzo SAMBA tra le altre cose per fare il backup di circa 40 PC. Da
quando ho installato alcuni nuovi PC con Windows 2000 (il cui file system è
NTFS) non riesco più a fare i backup correttamente.
Questo problema è forse legato ai CHARSET? Come posso risolvere?

PS:
1) ho provato ad eseguire validchr.com su un PC con Win2000 ma non ha
generato nulla. Il PC usa la code page 850 (rilevato con comando chcp).

2) ho provato ad inserire in smb.conf la stringa "valid chars = à " ed a
fare un backup di una cartella che contenesse un file con questo carattere.
(il man di smb.conf dice che si possono definire i caratteri così come
appaiono oltre che in esadecimale ed ottale).

3) Allego output di smbtar che ho inviato a mezzo mondo senza avere
purtroppo una risposta. (l'unica proposta mi è arrivata dal belgio, e mi
consigliano di rinominare i files che contengono caratteri accentati.
Ovviamente costringere 40 utenti a fare questo non è possibile).

This is my trouble:

I have a IBM X220 + RedHat 7.2.
One of the activity assigned to this server is to backup users' directory
with smbtar.
The problem I have is with PC that run WIN2000 (NTFS).
The version of samba is:
smbd -V output: "Version 2.2.1a"
nmbd -V output: "Version 2.2.1a"

When i run smbtar on PC with WIN2000-NTFS, if users have directory or files
with special characters, like caffè , colibrì etc., I see the following
error (data are not saved):

smbtar -s pc-stefano -x procaffe -u user -p password -t
/home/profiles/m.levis/prova.tar -v
