I'm hoping I'll be ready to release it for criticism in the next couple of weeks, and so thought it would be worthwhile mentioning it here just in case anyone else is doing the same thing. -- Andrew King (winbind@andyroo.demon.co.uk) From killingblade at hotmail.com Tue Jan 14 09:21:24 2003 From: killingblade at hotmail.com (=?gb2312?B?1cUg0ae35g==?=) Date: Fri Feb 13 23:41:31 2004 Subject: can not login 2000 domain Message-ID: cli_net_auth2: Error NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED cli_nt_setup_creds: auth2 challenge failed modify_trust_password: unable to setup the PDC credentials to machine DOMAIN-FILESERV. It's here: http://www.andyroo.demon.co.uk/agw.htm - it's missing the stuff on PAM at the moment though, which is probably fairly essential for most people. There's some stuff in the html comments though, and the manpage also goes over this. Will try and include it in the next week sometime and update the document. Jerry said: > Sounds good Andrew, but can you let me know what needs > to be added to the existing HOWTO to make it more helpful? Yes - it was just small things: things like what to do if typing `wbinfo -t` returns "Secret is bad" or "Cannot check secret"; a mention of the 'winbind use default domain' parameter in smb.conf (which is probably pretty vital to most people), and so on. I think that by including such possible error conditions in the documentation, more people are likely to get it working first time, and less people may need to post questions on newsgroups. It's the kind of stuff people hope to find when they turn to the docs but fairly often don't, due to one reason or another. Let me know if you'd like me to carry it on or port it to sgml/xml or anything, or if there are other criticisms. Please also feel free to take any bits that would be useful and integrate them into the HOWTO. I'm assuming you mean the contents of the winbindd(8) manpage by 'HOWTO', or there's another document out there that I've never found...
