I really don't like the idea of needing to choose MIT/Heimdal.  If we
need to tell Samba the difference, it is because they have a slightly
different API.  So yes, we should use that to make the decision.  Better
still, do it on a case-by-compatiblity-case basis.

If/when somebody fixes Heimdal or MIT to have the same API, then the
kludges go away - and the code just stays to support the older versions.
