Revised: This feature (and the smb.conf paramater) *should not* exist in 2.2

The code in HEAD required a lot of work to make it work correctly - work I
am not convinced has made it into 2.2.  In particular I only just fixed a
bug in HEAD related to this, and I don't have time to try and track down
the same things in 2.2.

Furthermore, the implementatation is botched - badly.  Certainly wasn't tested.
