oh, i have never seen that (on other NT machines), because we mostly share files
between NT-linux, not NT-NT.
but remember my remark, that TESTDIR.TMP is only created by the explorer.
shouldn't the file come up when "mkdir" is creating directories?
i also found out, that the file is only created when i explicitely (?) do a
"Create New Folder". the TESTDIR.TMP does not show up when i copy a
directory-tree to the [share].

hm, after the posting of Martin Pool i also overthought this issue and no, i am
not a programmer, and don't know anything from the source of HEAD, but here, my
2p:
is it possible, that NT is creating the TESTDIR.TMP and right after that Head
wants to stat() this file, because of some read-ahead or pre-caching features or
so? so while Head is doing this, the file is locked against any deleting-attempt
by NT.

Thank you for you quick response!
Regards,
Christian.

ps: am i the only one with this problem or why didn't i find anything in the
web?
