Just a thought, but why not use the FN_GLOBAL_LIST instead of
FN_GLOBAL_STRING?  It would appear to make sense in the situation :-)

Also, there is a patch floating around to get this list from DHCP, that
I was going to look at shortly, but as your working in this area I
thought you might want to either pick it up or tell me to wait till your
done. (it was on samba-technical a little while back, or I can e-mail it
to you).  

In any case I don't want to step on toes, and you know this stuff *much*
better than I.
