What did you mean by the "wrong approach"?

- Allowing the administrator to disable APW is wrong?

- Using smb.conf vs. some other way (e.g. NT authorization)
  is wrong?

- The entire notion of disallowing an NT tool (that doesn't
  work correctly over the net) is wrong?

- Some other reason?
