I ended up having to reboot a Windows NT Workstation (4.0 SP5) that was
convinced that a SAMBA server still wanted a file on the server locked.

Probably a unique and hard to reproduce example.  I seemed to have induced
the state while stopping the SMBD while examining variables for debug, and
the connection timed out.

I posted the trace logs on samba-technical and got no response.  Not a real
surprise since it turned out to not be really a SAMBA problem.
