samba-cvs at samba.org is mainly for cvs commit messages (and sometimes
follow-ups to them). The main mailing lists are:

* samba at samba.org - general discussion related to Samba
* samba-ntdom at samba.org - NT domains functionality
* samba-technical at samba.org - developer discussion of implementation
   and protocols

You should choose the most relevant list out of the above.

AFAIK smbwrapper should work okay on OSF1, at least using gcc. If you
are having problems then you can try asking them on one of the lists.
