I think we should remove the version/date info completely from all
these documents.
The reason is that it is quite misleading. For example:
!==
!== Faxing.txt for Samba release 2.1.0prealpha 981204
!==
Contributor: Gerhard Zuber <zuber at berlin.snafu.de>
Date: August 5th 1997.
Status: Current
it is not current and it is certainly not uptodate for Samba release
2.1. Having "status: current" in a document is silly, what does
current mean???
If we really have to have these headers then the only useful things to
go in them would be:
- possibly a title
- author/contributor of the document
- date it was last updated
and we certainly shouldn't automatically update the header for each
release without even reading it!
these little headers have always annoyed me :)
