chmod 777 my_shadow
chmod: changing permissions of 'my_shadow': Operation not permitted
ls -l my_shadow

Unless i'm testing it wrong.

I tested with 3.10.6
But:
sysctl fs.protected_hardlinks
fs.protected_hardlinks = 0
