Sorry to make fun of it, but reading here that the Mac finder has
exactly the same problem as Windows Search (as long as indexing is not
deactivated) is just funny. You see it right before you eyes in a shell
or in the explorer, but searching denies its existence until it has been
indexed, which can take hours or even days. They reduced that type of
problems in W7, but they still exist there just as your problem in Mac OS/X.
The workaround seems the same for both OS: Use a shell and let the
search run there.
(In case of W7: deactivating the indexing-trash solves it too at the
cost of slower search, doesn't help in Vista or XP)
