Um, yeah back in this thread I did:

"The end of the strace for the initiating system, to which the directory tree
is being updated, follows. This is while the load is rapidly rising, and the
rsync display on the console has simply hung. I'll put the whole strace file

The end of that strace is in that Feb. 12 post, too.

Meanwhile the files in the branch that chokes it have changed somewhat, and it now
stalls at a different point, but it's still the same style of stall, and
still repeats at the exact same spot in each run.

Obviously rsync is incredibly capable, and rarely does this. But whatever
I've run into is a serious bug, given that it's totally repeatable, and
blocks normal rsync use when encountered. It would be nice to know that
someone on the project is actively pursuing a bug like this.
