Interesting.  3.0.6 sent MSG_IO_ERROR from the generator to the sender,
which I had setup 3.1.0 to complain about (since that message is intended to
inform the receiving side of an IO error on the sending side).  I've tweaked
the 3.1.0 code to not complain about receiving that, and made sure that it
is only forwarding the message from the receiver to the generator.
