Summary: '**' does not match empty strings
Product: rsync
Version: 3.0.3
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: core
AssignedTo: wayned at samba.org
ReportedBy: dieter at plaetinck.be
QAContact: rsync-qa at samba.org
man rsync, section "FILTER RULES" says:
"use â**â to match anything, including slashes."
This is incorrect. '**' does not match empty strings.
The description should be:
"use â**â to match any non-empty string, including slashes."
This would be more in line with what '*' does ( "a â*â matches any
non-empty path component (it stops at slashes)." )
