start transfer while still getting file list - possible?

I use rsync to get daily changes from a server that contains about 1 
million files.

Because of that many files, it takes rsync 2-3 hours to build the file 
list; after that, file transfer takes about 3-5 hours (over 1 Mbit link).


Is it possible to make rsync to start receive files while the file list 
is still getting built?

If it was possible, in my case, the whole data transfer could be 
finished 2 hours faster.


I didn't see such option in 2.6.9; perhaps it's planned for 3.0.0?
