feature request: generate symlink shadow tree

I was wondering if anyone has used rsync to generate forests of
symlinks which point
to a specified hierarchy.

It would be nice to see this feature in rsync, specifically I'd like
to use it with a --delete so stale symlinks would be pruned in the
generated forest.
