mirroring with rsync

I successfully copied a remote directory onto a local machine.  A
directory on the remote machine was removed.  I mirrored the directories
again, but the directory that was removed on the remote machine was
still on the local machine.  Is there anyway that the directory on the
local machine could be removed automatically?
